Well, in what will probably be a fruitless effort to pimp this thread ... I'm going to link to what I consider a classic entry from the BnA-hosted blog "Traveling with Sean and Jennifer". (It's in the RTW-completed section.) They were traveling through China at the time, and had a funny little adventure trying to mail something back to the US one day.

Conor's got an even better bus story about one to Prague I think.

But Anyway I'm up to date on his blog and I need another decent Blog to sate my travel writing appetite.

I'm to stingy to buy a book, any one got any more decent blogs.

(And not the Global Trip ive read all that).

Everything Conor writes is friggin hilarious. His and Erik's (Global Trip) were the only two blogs I read while I was away - meaning I actually spent money at internet cafes to keep up with them.

Man, this guy can write. Turns tiny little shit into funny, funny stuff.

He's in Bolivia, heading out on a short day tour of the salt flats.

quote:
The tour of the salt flats started the next day, July 26th, around 10 a.m. It began with climbing into an ancient Land Rover with about six other people and an insanely old Bolivian driver.

I can only assume that this particular driver, at whose age I could not guess without greater familiarity with the principles of carbon dating, was chosen for this duty as an unabashed act of charity, or perhaps he was around before the formation of the salt flats themselves and could provide unique insights on their early development. Irrespective of the unfathomable reasons behind his employment, it did not seem like “driving” would be his forte, as driving usually requires basic skills such as "holding one’s head upright" and "keeping one’s eyes open" – no mean feat for such a grizzled individual, I can assure you. He looked like a tree stump with pants. He devastatingly and spectacularly proved his incompetence almost immediately by hitting a small dog on the desert road out to the flats. We all yelled, but not only did he not even slow down, he didn’t even look back, and we had to peer through the dust to see the poor animal limping off the road and being picked up by his kind owner for some serious healthcare. As for our driver, I am not sure he knew it happened at all. The two Argentinean guys in the back called up to him repeatedly in Spanish, but he seemed not to hear them at all. So we just had to sit back and hope for the best.

The entire entry can be found, where else, here ....

This thread and all excerpts look really promising. I'll check out the blogs later I really need to get some work done now. One of my favourite blogs is this one. This guy recently published a hilarious story on bootsnall too (reading material, Beijing).

I love love 'How Conor is Spending All His Money!' These stories are so charming.

I also really love all of the stuff that Leif Pettersen has posted. When that book comes out, I am buying it!

I especially enjoy the 'Don't Go There' Series and keep hoping that a few more will be posted.

Though in hanging around here at BNA, you likely already know all about this blog. As a fan, well, I have to mention it all the same. HeHe

Thanks Jules,

Honestly, as fun and cathartic as it is to slap a city on the Don't Go There list, I simply haven't been any place that has deserved the honor for quite some time (though Kuala Lumpur was a close one). The place has to be offensively sucky to get the nod. And honestly, if I can help it, I simply avoid possible Don’t Go There locales when I get adequate forewarning of the Suck Potential. So, unless I’m duped into or paid to go to one of these places, I’m afraid that The Don’t Go There series isn’t going to see any action for a while. Viking
