Hello Does anyone know of a blog written by a solo female on a rtw? I've been reading loads of blogs by different guys recently to prepare for my own but I'd love to read it from a female perspective, just to see how they get on. Thanks

Please note: the above member, who is the very model of a modern major-general, with information vegetable, animal, and mineral, has retired from BnA and won't be able to answer any follow-up questions. If you really need to speak with him, use the PM function. Please direct all Schengen visa questions here. Likewise, expat questions go here. Remember to vote tiger penis. Oh, and if possible, be kind to Jester and Stoo.

My favorite sole female rtw is Tania's blog: http://blogs.bootsnall.com/TaniaJ/ . She hasn't been updating it lately (nothing since April 10) but you can read backwards and get her traveling all over South America, mucking out flood victims, and then making her way around Africa, encountering more floods and adventures. She has a wonderful gutsy spirit. My favorite entry on her blog is here: http://blogs.bootsnall.com/TaniaJ/?p=104#more-104, and it's called "My head under her leg under...etc." Hilarious, brave, and very characteristic of Tania's writing and living style.
You could probably pull together a compilation if you do a little work with this list, and I'd suggest Snarky give her family this to read; A woman's Passion for Travel: True Stories of World Wanderlust. There are other, similar books, but better NOT send them The Unsavvy Traveler: Women's Comic Tales of Catastrophe. Save that one for yourself! Sorry if I mangled the links. They work differently on the boards from the way they work on the blogs.
