What's the story with blogging within China? I've reading that all blogging sites are blocked in China so you can't log in to blog whilst over there. Is that true in HK too? Does this apply to BootsnAll too?
Any ideas of how to deal with this? Email blogging?

While some well known blogging sites may be blocked (which could be possible) it is virtually impossible for anyone to know whether you're blogging on a site or just surfing the web.

I was in China a couple of months back and my boots blog worked. On the other hand, blogger, wordpress and wikipedia were all banned.

You can log in to blog, adjust settings, post, etc., but you may not be able to view the blog site itself. At least that was the case with blogger. Email blogging works fine and so does blogging from your mobile phone + wifi network.

Hong Kong is completely different. Happily, the great firewall of China doesn't extend over there.

I live in Central China... most blog sites that are blocked are blocked from viewing...not necessarily from writing. I use Motime, which is blocked. Howeve, I can still write my blog using that site. Just cant go to the address and read it.

Can you get to proxify.com? This will let you view any other site without directly viewing it from your computer, so this could be a workaround for you guys.

At the moment, yes, I can get to proxify and surfall.net and others. One never knows which proxy service will work. The Great China Firewall is not consistant. Anonymouse doesnt work any more... Maybe, sign up for one of those services that gives a list of proxies and if one doesnt work, try another. If you are computer literate... you can change settings...I am not, so I use the lists... Myspace and some of those blogs are not blocked. Best advice, I can give, try getting into you blog, once you are here. If you can't, then try the proxy route.
