There are probably more than 1000 BootsnAll blogs now - some old, some news, some that are amazing, yet get read by only a few.

Here are a few of my favorites:

On An Alpahabet - This girl is traveling through Europe through 26 European cities, each beginning with a different letter of the the alphabet. Each city is in a different country.

The Great Wall Nut - Jamie is walking the entire lenght of the Great Wall of China - should take her half a year.

Kato - This is my friend Kate who drove from Portland, Oregon down to Brazil. She is a great writer, kind of intense, and really aware of the political issues in Central America. Has problems with uploading pictures, but overall the writing is good.

Best RTW Blog - These guys have been traveling around the world for the last year - and have probably hit at least 15 countries. They always take time to write good posts, and upload their great pictures.

What are your favorites? Why?

My all-time favourite is How Conor Is Spending All His Money, which frequently makes me howl with laughter (slightly inconvenient when I was reading it in the office before I left on my own trip). The guy's an incredibly talented writer.

Oh hell, I didn’t realize that Conor was still blogging regularly. I stopped reading when he finished his trip. This is terrible on so many levels.

Do I need another distraction? No. Perhaps I can hold out on reading all his archived posts until the World Cup ends, but probably not.

Do I need to be reminded on a weekly basis that there’s a guy out there that’s way funnier than I am? No. But then when I read funny, I become funny. I’m like a style sponge. When I read Conor, my stuff gets funnier (if ever so briefly, like a time-release fever reducer). When I read Bryson my stuff gets more intellectual, but still funny of course. When I read Coulter my stuff gets narrow minded, poorly researched and asinine. And so on.

Do I need to lose any more groupies to him? First NTF Travis, then my mom, who’s next?

Well, I’m wasting precious time here. I have almost a years worth of posts to read… Viking

I'll third the vote for Conor's blog. He's hysterical. He even makes a day spent "gardening" with his mother a great read...

I've also really gotten into Victoria's On An Alphabet blog - she's really honest about any trouble she has, and also is having wonderful experiences in places that people told her weren't safe to travel - thereby dashing more stereotypes to the rocks.

Conor's blog is legend. At this point, it's almost a disservice to call it a blog. His is why I started that "Great Moments in Blogging" thread in the first place. I forget who pointed it out to me originally, maybe pepdrug, but I'm forever grateful.

As to this....

Leif, it's entirely possible - nay, probable - that there's room in all of our hearts for (dare I say it??) more than one blog.

This from the woman who has 1,837 bookmarks on her Bloglines account and doesn't have the time to read any of them! Splitform

On the subject of blogs that aren't mine and should therefore not be read until you've referred at least five of your best editor and publisher friends to mine, I deeply enjoyed Daniel Wallace's No PLace As Home. I read it eagerly as I prepared my trip to Asia two years ago.

It sits untouched now, but it's still a good read. Daniel's not as hilarious as Conor or cute as I am, but he's got an infectious tone that I never grew tired of.

Now, Leif, you're going and spilling a girl's secrets... I might have to watch what I say to you in future... Wink

(And it's not 1800+, I'm only at about 93 unread posts at the moment...)
