I mentioned this in another thread, but I thought I would start a separate thread on this topic, because we are pretty excited!!
about this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wn9rDTZj-m4 We have taken a lot of video these last 18 months, but it is not that easy to deal with it properly, while on the move with a child around the world. ( Especially when both adults are fairly tech-challenged). It is also not as easy as we thought, to schlep a violin with us from the Sahara to Istanbul, and everywhere in between & sometimes looking like a nut or gathering a crowd of tourist photographers. So the three of us put considerable effort into the making of our little keepsake video. My blog is behind because of these efforts, but I think it is has been worth it. I hope it inspires those who are about to take off and brings back happy memories to those who have returned from great trips with kids. Enjoy and pass it on! http://www.soultravelers3.com “I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it.” PABLO PICASSO |

Thanks!! We just used imovie on our mac which makes it fairly easy to edit, although it is time consuming. We are still learning as we go.
It actually looks a LOT clearer on imovie and even on facebook than it does on youtube which seems to have the lowest quality. I will have to try it on google video and myspace to compare and also will put it up on our website. My little one gets a kick out of youtube and watching her number. LOL! http://www.soultravelers3.com “I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it.” PABLO PICASSO |

Thanks wallop and Mama-to-many! I cracked up at your comment about the clothes.
One of the advantages of RV travel and renting a place in the winter is that we can bring more clothes and books. She goes to the local school in the winter in her second language, so needed some for that too. ..we bought some things this year in Italy on sale for her school days. It will be a little trickier as we move continents, but we are so attached to the RV now as an ideal family travel mode, we are going to ship it with us. Many of the video segments were taken though, when we were traveling for a month or more away from the RV with just a very small daypack each for us....that included homeschool supplies, laptops, books and toys, plus clothes. She has the most clothes even then, but they take up such a small space because they are little, maybe an inch at the bottom for everything.I use most of her bag for our things like bathroom supplies & books. There is a lot more repeat wear than it may appear on the video, remember this took 18 months to make and we travel in 4 seasons. The same jacket she wore in Prague in fall of 2007 is the same one she wore in Paris in fall 2006. The same T in Greece 07, you will see in pics of Provence 06 etc, etc. We do try to pick a nicer looking outfit for a day we are shooting the violin videos than a day she is playing in the dirt all day at home in the RV I bought some things a little big before leaving (& everything on sale which is my habit) and she is still wearing most of it. She has one little leather designer skirt that she still wears that is a size 6m...lol. Her shorts she has been wearing forever too and most are in baby sizes, although she is really a size 5 now. The best, most used things have been a black sweater ( found in a hyper market in France for little ) , a vest ( THE most used item) and black leggings. She happened to have a pair of ski pants and light rain jacket with hood, that are GREAT for rain and take up no space. One pair of waterproof boots works great too. Looooong story short, yeah she has too many clothes, but not as much as one imagines. We give her out grown clothes to a friend who sends them to Argentina for kids that need them. I am sure glad that I do not have to handle clothes for as many as you have! http://www.soultravelers3.com “I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it.” PABLO PICASSO |

WOW! And it was amazing to discover that...we were in Portugal and unplugged...so we were utterly shocked to see that we got over 730,000 views and more email than I can handle on the move!!
Thanks for letting me know. We just arrived in Santiago de Compostela ( with picture perfect weather!!) and I am sitting at a cafe trying to catch up while I rest my feet from touring today. We have 21 videos up and they all got lots of views. Amazing!! http://www.soultravelers3.com “I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it.” PABLO PICASSO |
