Holds PhD in Packing

We've been reading about Nellie Bly--a woman who was a reporter in NYC in the 1800's at a time when women didn't do things like that. A couple of the more interesting things that she did was to get herself locked up into an insane asylum for 10 days--as a patient. Also, when "Around the World in 80 Days" was a bestseller, Nellie decided to see if it could be done. It could, and she made it in 72. Anyway she is very interesting to read and learn about--esp for the kids, so here's a link: Nellie Bly

We loooove Nellie Bly and it was lots of fun reading about her before we left.I think it is packed away somewhere in the books that we m-bag mailed ourselves ...to Spain.

It is interesting that there was another woman who did it at the same time she did.She is a great female adventurer role model!

You must be extra excited now as I know you head off soon!Bon voyage. We are heading into Provence and found a Micky dees with wifi.

Hi WT, Yes, we're in Cairns right now, and finally found cheap internet, so we're enjoying the AC and getting it done finally. Not too many places with Wifi in this part of the world, but it sure has a lot of other stuff to recommend it! The rainforest is beautiful and we're going out on the reef tomorrow.

Hey Go Girl,

We're in Christchurch right now and will be flying into Cairns next week. How long will you be on the East Coast? Maybe we can compare notes. Our trip is going great and I concur on the wifi issue. Comp Red Devil

Cheers!

Hey go girl and kidnall!! So glad to hear that you are enjoying yourselves!

Yes wifi can be a bit of a nightmare in Europe as well ( check out some of our wacky stories on our website when you get a chance).I would say the lack of internet connection has been the biggest challenge of our trip...really the only real one.

We just today got our satellite ( after quite a bit of nightmare getting it up and running including blowing a few converter things) so should have 24/7 connection from this point on.It is not easy having good connection as one moves and personally I hate internet cafes because they tend to be smoky and expensive.

Wifi can be tricky as it can be hard to find and sometimes quite slow too.The technology is not quite there for world roaming on a budget, but still getting better every day.The satellite is not ideal either, but the best we could come up with so we hope it keeps working for now.My husband laughs because he is the tech guru of the family and that is not his forte, but he is just much better than the rest of us.We keep learning as we go which is one of the fun things about such a trip.

Ain't it grand??? It is a gorgeous day here in southern Spain and I wish everyone could be enjoying the thrills of a RTW trip with a kiddo ( or two Wink )

So much to see ,so little time.Nellie Bly had the right idea about seeing the world as it is a great way to live and be in the now.

Hope you guys have not forgotten about maybe stopping in here or meeting up at some point. We have had sooo much fun meeting up with people we have gotten to know on the internet.Email me when you get close!

Oops WT, just got your message. We're in Byron Bay right now and headed south. We have a constant battle between my husband the beach lover and me the national park lover. So we go back and forth. Life is great, and much of it is spent in a tent.
