Hi

We are planning a 3 week trip to Malaysia and Thailand in July and our (by then) 6mth old daughter is coming too. I am maiinly wondering about the acceptance of breastfeeding in those places. When I lived in Thailand I don't remember seeing babies out and about much, let alone mothers feeding in public places... My daughter will still be breastfeeding by then, and I want to go out and see things, so dies anyone have any good advice? I don't want to inadvertantly offend anyone!
thanks! Smile

I have not been to Thailand yet, so do not know the customs, but I do know that it is easy to breastfeed a child in a sling in a way that no one has a clue what is going on.

I used to do it in all kinds of public places like standing in a line buying groceries and no one had the slightest idea. It takes a little practice to get it down easily, but by the time she is 6 months, you should have it down pat.

We loved "the bundler" and "new native" sling for carrying, sleeping and breastfeeding on the go with free hands. If we were on a long walk, once she was deep asleep, we would transfer the sling or bundler to my husband, to give me a little break and him a little skin on skin bonding time.

Good luck!

Only in America will people have a fit. We saw lots of women nursing in SE Asia and just about everywhere else, though women are more discreet in wealthier countries. If you think about it, the water is not great in SE Asia, and most people can't afford formula.
