One thing I have noticed about the budget travel/guesthouse websites I am looking at is that they allow *1* child to stay free - and that most rooms stop at "triple".

Is the extra bed fee - is that for the 4th family member? Or the second single bed? double bed? We'd are seriously considering Thailand next year and my kids will be 4 & 6.5 - not exactly the right age for separate rooms...

The added cost isn't as much a worry as of being able to fit us all in a room.

Peace,

We found plenty of places that could handle four to a room. The difficulty was in communicating that clearly. Lonely Planet guidebook and their Thai language book was very useful. Speak slowly... S-l-o-w-l-y and c-l-e-a-r-l-y, and you will do fine. By the way, our experience was that booking the rooms etc from Thailand was way preferable and cheaper than doing it from the US. Good luck!
