Hey,
We are heading to Thailand for our wedding in early July 2008. And we will have our then 6th old daughter with us... Before heading to the wedding, we wanted to go somewhere we hadn't been, so are thinking of 10-12 days in Malaysia, maybe KL, Kuching and Penang.
Any handy hints about SE ASIA and babies would be appreciated... and any hints about great places in Malaysia. (Thailand is fine, we used to live there... but without a baby!)
Cheers

We spent three weeks in KL and Penang with a 7 month old in July. What do you want to know?
Off the top of my head. Drink heaps. Make sure bubba drinks heaps (breastfeed if poss, otherwise boil water). Wear a hat. Use a sling or backpack or wrap or something like that for carrying your baby.

Thanks for the advice... Everything you said sounds very sensible...
Was it hard to get around with a 7 month baby? My daughter will be about the same age by then. We would still like to look around KL and Penang as well as laze around.
One of my concerns is taxis... getting around in cars when you don't have a carseat... what did you do?
We plan to take a baby carrier and no pram, we can share the carrying... any other indispensible tips...
Thanks

We actually had one of those carseats that turns into a wee stroller....but for all our walking found using a backpack much easier. If I was going in a taxi without a carseat I think I would ahv the baby strapped to my front and feed the seatbelt between me and the baby - not around the outside of the baby. That would be fairly safe.
