i know this is really last minute and probably pointless but i have no idea what to expect for my 10mth old daughter in the way of food in thailand.
having started solids from 6mths shes now into her finger foods in a big way, loving veggies and simple fruit. my husband says fish, noodles, rice and fruit, which is fine, but i'm sure she will get bored of fish and rice every day.
can anyone share what their little ones ate in thailand?
Confused

I haven't traveled with a baby to Thailand, but I have traveled with a baby and have been in Thailand a few times. If your daughter has started dairy already you'll be able to find yogurt, cheese and milk pretty easily. And if you need to, you can find familiar Western food on just about any menu and probably find jarred baby food in grocery stores. When I travel I bring a box of my son's favorite cereal for breakfast and some well tested snacks (Cheerios) and then buy local for the rest of his food.

She'll probably love the fruit & veggies though. I guess the only thing I would worry about would be the spice level of Thai food and the fact that a lot of dishes have nuts in them (if you're worried about nut allergies). I bet you'll do just fine though and the Thai staff in restaurants will probably take good care of your daughter.

There is a great book called Super Baby Food. I used it as a guideline both for making my daughter's baby food and for information on what she could eat when. It provides a lot of food ideas, more than just recipes for kids, etc. Once I had read that I found that I was able to comfortably think outside the box regarding what she could eat. There is a website for the book with a bit of information, www.superbabyfood.com www.superbabyfood.com

If you are in the city, you will be able to find yogurt, western crackers and other things at any corner 7-11/Mini-Market. I would If you are outside of the city you will have a great variety of fresh stuff to choose from. I would ask for a bit of help from an English-speaking Thai the first couple of times that you purchase packaged foods, you can run into odd flavorings, sweetened items, etc.

Despite the spices, Thai food is really fresh and healthy. It's one of my daughter's favorites (not too spicy).
