I am new to the group and have just booked airfares to South Africa for 5 weeks from mid June. My husband and I have been to Southern Africa on a couple of occasions many years ago but never made it to Botswana. We had thought 2 spend about 2 weeks there this time and the rest of the time in South Africa in a campervan. Our kids are aged 8 and 4 and I thought that a self drive tour with a guide might be the way to go with the kids. The family organised safaris all seem to have a minimum age of 5. One of the companies I emailed said to forget Botswana with kids and stick to Namibia and South Africa. Has anyone done Botswana with young children?

We are just planning our African long stay on our RTW trip, so I have no personal experience. So far we are planning time in Botswana with a young child...but I am still doing research.
