Hello All,

My friend and I made it to Uhuru peak on December 18th at 7am. It was a trip of the life time. We chose 7 day Rongai trip. I got AMS on the 2nd day. My mistake, I was keeping pace with Porters. Third day onwards, Pole Pole became my mantra. We both made it to the top with relatively little problems.

The route was unique in the way that we summitted through Barafu hut as opposed to Kibo hut. We came down through Kibo and I've to tell you going up through Kibo is a much harder deal given the loose scree.

The tour operator we chose was Team Kilimanjaro and I can't say enough about their professional staff. Our guide Deodatus and assistant guide Jacob were excellent. For the two of us we had 9 porters and they were all properly equipped.

We also got lucky that there was no rain the entire time we were there. If anyone is looking for recommendations, I would definitely recommend Team Kilimanjaro.

Cheers,
Rupesh
