I'm celebrating the big 30! by climbing Kilimanjaro. I'm looking for some partners. I've booked with Serengeti Pride Safaris. I'm looking for some climbing partners.... anyone looking to take Shira route (about 8 days, I'm told). Climbing date is Monday July 7th. I know it's kind of short notice but I thought I would just put it out there.

Thanks Coxy.... I'm sooo nervous about the risks and since I'm not the athletic type, I wonder if I will have the stamina to make it to the top. I have a great guide though and it helps that he is open to questions even before the trip.

Shira is a good steady route. Probably the hardest day for me was Lava Tower to Karanga, but that's because I got a bit of giardia and so had stomach cramps and all sorts of discomfort.

The afternoon phase from Barranco to Karanga seemed to take forever!

You've got a good guide, just listen to his instructions, take it slow, drink heaps, eat heaps when you can, and just enjoy the scenery and the experience.

Oh, and one last piece of advice if you're doing the summit assault at midnight.

Don't ask the guide how far is left to go!! It won't help you to know.
