Anybody going in June 2007? I'll start my climb on June 8th and was wondering if anyone on here is going around that time. I picked Zara (I've read the bad stories, think I'll be O.K.) and went with them for shear monetary reasons. Didn't want to deal with the fly catchers and chance it, so I picked a company tour group. Will be asking you veterans some questions over the next few months, feel free to give advice on anything you'd wish you would have done or done differently. Here goes the first question (other than anybody going in June 07).
What is a good pair of boots you were pleased with and where suited for hiking KILI.

Hey Principal! Welcome to the boards, and congrats with booking your trip! I did Kili with the BnA crew on New Years last year. This won't help you out, but maybe it'll help a girl out who's looking to do the trip...I was fully satisfied with taking my Lowa Renegades up Kili. Hardly any break in time (although I did put in a lot of miles pre-Kili), and fit so comfortably. They do have a guys version here. Can get them cheaper now if you look around. But everyone's feet are different. Try on different pairs of shoes, and when you find one you like, be sure to break them in really well.

Do a good deed and take a duffel bag stuffed full of winter jackets and gear down for the Porters Assistance Project in Moshi. They are awesome.

I have tried for the last 2 years to work Kili into my travels but haven't made it happen yet. Maybe '07 is the year...especially since I will be celebrating a certain milestone birthday in Aug. Rock Out
