Hi All,
I read that the Western Breach Route re-opened on December 1st. Are any outfitters using/refusing to use this route again ? From what I had previously read, the WB made for a easier summit - anyone care to comment ? Any personal experiences ? Cheers, Glenn |

Just returned from Kili, and asked about the Western Breach-it was definitely not open Dec 1st, and our guides did not know if it ever would be opened again. As for an easier summit-my guide told me that it is a harder ascent overall, much steeper(I can't imagine any steeper lol!) Thats the latest info I know, someone else may know more

The Western Breach is open now but many companies feel its too dangerous at this moment. They don't trust the situation to take my clients on that route, for the following reasons:
- No sufficient communication with rescue - No proper guide training was been conducted after the accident - No proper investigation was been carried out. Plus a myriad of other reasons. |
