Does anyone recommend a company for emergency evacuation and medical insurance that won't break the bank?

I am leaving for Kili on Feb 18th and am having a hard time finding a company that insures past 15,000 feet. Another challenge is that some are slow in getting back to me confirming that the hike is not classified as mountain climbing or mountaineering which are usually excluded from coverage.

I've tried World Nomad. No dice over 15,000 feet...

Thanks!
Keith

Keeter,

I chose Tusker as my outfitter because they had their own evac-protocol and then all I needed was medical coverage.
(I had my son along... wanted to be around people with a plan. Even if you had evac insurance you still need someone to call the helicopter)

It sounds like your trip is set but by adding days to your trek you can almost eliminate the "evacuation" possibility by good acclimtization.

Good luck to you, it's an awesome undertaking!

Thanks guys!! I ended up going with Patriot International. They technically exclude any high altitude hikes but they agreed to waive that.

If anyone goes this route, have them email you that the exclusion was waived. Always get things in writing, right?

Hi Keeter.

Hope it went well.
I was wondering wheer you saw the 15,000 feet exclusion in World Nomads? I was going to use them but am now worried about that. I cannot find teh exclusion.

Thanks,
