Has anyone gone up Mt Kilimanjaro with Destination Tanzania aka detasa? Some friends and I are considering booking with them but I haven't found many independent reviews of the experience. Thanks.

I used DETASA in February for my hike. It was very professional, guides, cooks were very competent. They are a bit more expensive than other, but it was well worth it.

Borneo,

Been doing some research as well on Detasa. I found some reviews on Tripadvisor.com which were helpful (type "Destination Tanzania", with the quotes, in the search box, and you'll see them). I've corresponded with Innocent as well. They seem very professional, and he also provides a list of references. I think his prices are pretty reasonable compared to those of western-based outfitters.

Haven't yet decided what I'll do, but am definitely considering them.

Adrian,

Which route did you take? Also, if you did Shira/Lemosho Glades, did you camp in the crater, go to Arrow Glacier and Lava Dome, and did yo go up the Western Breach?

Thanks in advance.

I did Lemosho route via Western Breach and one night at Crater camp. I hit the wall on Crater Camp, but recovered after a quick nap and some dinner. I highly recommend camping on Crater Camp, it gives you a bit rest instead of full push for Summit on the same day.
