Hi;

Planning a Trip in 2008. Great information here - thanks everyone who posts!! It really helps.

Kilimanjaro climb will be week 1 of a 4 week holiday, and I don't really want to haul around tons of equip. So thinking of renting the sleeping bag, sleeping mat, poles and summit parka - bringing everything else. I'll likely leave hats, gloves and the termal clothes with my porter or guide.

Question is, is the rental equip any good? I'm narrowing down from the following 3 tour companies:
- Duma Explorer
- Team Kilamjaro
- African Walking Tours (booked through Africa Travel Resource)
Can't afford Thompson, Tusker or Kiliwarriers. But thought these 3 companies offered excellent alternatives in the $1600 - $2000 pp range. Any experience anyone has with these 3, I'd really appreciate hearing it. Thanks

Kim,

I'm starting the climb with Team Kilimanjaro on December 13th. We are going to rent the following items: Sleeping Bag, Rain Shirt/Pants, Gaiters, and Down Mittens.

I'll be happy to let you know of our experience with TK towards the end of December when I get back.

Cheers,
Rupesh

I am also climbing Kili Dec 13th , but with Tuskers. I rented a sleeping bag, poles and gaiters for about $85, which for me is well worth it since I didn't want to invest a lot of money on gear I may not use a lot.
See you on the mountain Rupesh Smile
