There's still enough time to get in shape!

Our current group of 4 ranges between the ages of 39 to 50. We're from Florida and Colorado - and plan on enjoying every day! Be back home before school starts back in.

We've scheduled a 13 day guided tour and climb from Arusha. 3 to 4 porters per climber. My wife and I are taking a short after-climb tour to the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. PM if interested.

Henry

I would suggest getting in a high altitude hike before you reach Kili. My friend and I (both from Atlanta) climbed Pikes Peak (14,110 feet) and I think it was tremendously helpful for us to know how we react to the altitude.

Another thing I would suggest is to buy an insulated bottle cover (REI sells for about 12 dollars). http://www.rei.com/product/717326. This will help when your bladder freezes during the summit attempt.

Good luck for your climb!

On a personal note, this trip has the extra bonus of being a vacation paced warm up and a chance to see how I feel while on diamox. I have a harder, faster paced trip to the Pamirs in Tajikistan scheduled for November.

Some think a guy will react differently to altitude from trip to to trip. We've been comfortable in the 10,000 to 12,000 ft range. We'd love to sneek in a 14'r before Kili time, but will have to wait and see if we can make it happen.
