So I leave on Thursday for Kilimanjaro, but in the videos and sites I have seen I have agthered that one uses a trekking pole alternately to your stepping foot (left leg forward = right hand forward) but just now looking at the boots and all video I see they are left leg forward = left hand forward. I doubt that its a big deal and also assume that if it is I will be shown by the guide? What are your comments? Thanks Bric |

I think it is personal preference. I use both poles to plant while alternating which foot to lead with while trekking. You'll figure out real quick which rhythm works for you on the trail. Most importantly, your knees will thank you for using poles on the way down.
Have a great trip.... |

I agree. You'll figure out what's comfortable for your body. I used trekking poles when i did the APR a few years ago and they made a huge difference! Have fun!

You can generally rent poles in Moshi, or at the park entrance.
