I've read the visa requirements on the state department...but a question..is it better to get the visa before entering Tanzania, or just wait till we get there?

I asked Donovan this same question. He said there's no problem getting our visas when we arrive but it's also very easy to do in advance.

I guess it depends on whatever you feel most comfortable with... I haven't decided yet if I'm going to get it in advance or not.

Freesia nailed. You can do before or after. If you are staying for more than one month, then you should get in advance. Easy to do.

Madhu, I'm guessing you're going to be bussing it to Kili from Nairobi, as I will be. I read somewhere that the bus stops at the border and those who need to get visas for Tanzania take care of it then.

Anyone get visas yet? I've gotten conflicting information. I was under the impression that we needed a visa to enter only Tanzania. But if I'm flying into Nairobi, do I need to get one for Kenya, too?

freesia, i was thinking we need to get a multiple-entry visa for kenya, since we'll have to get back in to fly out of nairobi. but regardless, i'm waiting until i get there before i get it. hopefully i won't encounter too much trouble.

Donovan mentioned 'transit visas' for Kenya that are about a week long and around $20 - not sure how much multiple entry is, however.
