Jambo!
we just came back from our Kilimanjaro trip.
We did the 7 day Machame route, booked through Destination Africa tours in south africa, which ended up being part of Team Kilimanjaro.
Our guide Deo, and assistant guide Nuru were absolutely amazing, as well as our cook Julius and the rest of the crew. All of us made it to Uhuru peak, a great way to start 2008.

here are some pictures of our trip: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hbiba11/sets/72157603701489548/

I would definitely recommend Team Kilimanjaro to anyone.
Good luck!
Marie

Marie,

Congratulations to making to the top! I loved the pictures you have taken. Looks like you used SLR camera, the quality is superb.

I climbed last month and we also had Deo as our guide. When did you start your climb? I know he was escorting a group starting December 21st.

Cheers,
Rupesh

My apologies for coming in here. I feel a bit invasive but I ought to clear something up and I don't have your contact details, Marie.

It's a bit of a co-incidence as we have only two Deo's amongst our guides, but Rupesh, your Deo was Deodatus Na'alli, and Marie, your Deo was Deo Shayo! Co-incidentally, both Deos are also ex-KINAPA, however Deodatus Na'alli also used to work as a school teacher and for Tusker Trail before shifting to us. And Deo Shayo was only promoted to lead his own climbs with us in mid-2007, so it's a real encouragement to have re-iterated from a climber how well Deo is doing in this capacity.

Thank you so much for your kind words Marie; I will be passing them on to the men. Thank you also for sharing your photos with us. I see there are some really beautiful ones of some of the staff.

Congratulations on such a successful ascent.

Sincerely,

TK.

Hi, I'm Khalid, Marie's boyfriend. We did the trek with three others (my sister, cousin, and a friend).

I'd just like to reiterate how helpful Deo, Nuru, and the rest of Team Kilimanjaro were. We wouldn't have made the summit without them.

We did actually meet Big Deo (Deodatus Na'alli), who was with another group. There were two other TK teams on the Machame route concurrently with us, and from what I've heard they had all enjoyed their trips.

Thanks Team Kilimanjaro! (back to the real world for us now Frown

Oh yes, of course. Deodatus was on the 6 day Machame Route starting a day behind you, and would have met up with you at Barafu on the afternoon of 2nd January.

I see we actually had 8 Machame and 2 Lemosho expeditions on Kili during your climb but you would probably have missed Patrick, Harold and Prosper's groups by just a couple of hours.

Again, thank you very much to you too Khalid, for your team's generosity towards, and kind words about, Deo and the crew. They will be most encouraged by this.

Sincerely,

TK.
