Planninga trip for late February. Need some feed back on diffrent routes. Interested in Machame, Rogain or Lemosho.
Would like to join up with another group if possible. If any one is going that time of year I am flexible on dates.
Also does any one have an opinion on Good Earth Tours.

Carl,
I just completed a 7 part article about all the campsites on the Lemosho/Mweka traverse. It's posted on www.kilimanjarologue.com. I liked it because we had 9 days to reach the crater top and then summit from there. plenty of time to acclimate...The morning of the tenth day we only took an hour to get to the summit...no 6 to 8 hour slog from Barafu at night.
The route is free of trash and not crowded but we still met some interesting people in the camps.
Any way you go, extra days will help against AMS (altitude mountain sickness).
We did the 9 day and never got sick or even headaches but many people do it in less days.
It is a very cool thing to do...I went with my son...unforgetable!
The very best of luck to you...

Hi Carl,

I've copied and updated a response I placed on another forum in regards to Good Earth. I traveled with them 3+ years ago and had a great time as you'll read below. Enjoy....

"I highly recommend Good Earth Tours. I went to Kili with them August/September 2003 and had one of the greatest experience of my life. We climbed to the summit via the Western Breach (Unfortunately at this time the route is still closed). All told the trip cost my $1080 (Park fees have gone up substantially since then). But this got me round trip transportation from Nairobi to Arusha on Riverside Bus (nice clean spacious buses), 2 nights at the La Jacaranda Hotel in Arusha (1 night before and after the trip. Nice rooms, I had a double all to myself both times, an in-house restaurant frequented by local diplomats and the resident Dutch cook will make you anything you want. My favorite were the impala burgers special ordered after our successful climb!), and 8 days on the mountain. The original package was $800 for the Machame route, but along with 2 other partners we added the extra days to acclimatize and do the Western Breach route as seen in the Imax movie. You can check out some of my photos on http://www.favoriteadventure.com (Sorry about its current state as I am tinkering with a new design. Click on Photos in the Nav Bar and you should be all set). Contact me if you need any more info. Enjoy and Safe travels...."
