hi peeps, can someone help Crazy

I am having real trouble getting a yellow fever vaccination, seems producers in the uk are not making any and as a result supplies are non existant in my area, only place that might do them is a company called nomad travel in london, over 3 hours away by car.

Do i actually need a vaccine for ecuador, peru, bolivia, is it possible to get it at heathrow (i can't find any info on a medical centre there) or as a backup last ditch no other option is it possible to get it in quito (where i am flying into)

thanks for any and all help Big Grin

john

I don't know if this will help but I was passing through a mini airport in Peru a few weeks ago and they were giving yellow fever jabs for free (they were also offered at a hospital I went passed on the bus). Not sure if they'll do them at Quito airport but you may be able to find a local clinic/ hospital that can sort you out for a small fee.

For what it's worth, It's a nasty jab. Spec sheet says 25% will get "flu like" symptoms for up to 8 days, and I did. Only shot I've ever had a major reaction to. The bright side is they say subsequent vaccinations rarely produce such reactions.

Please can I go back to Thailand

got a jab sorted uot for next weekend, going all the way to london (i live 300 odd miles away) for the jab, give's me an excuse to wander around london for a day, thanks for the help tho Smile

braslvr, isn't the fatality rate for yellow fever around 50%, seems a 25% chance of getting flu like symtoms is a bit better than that Wink

If you're travelling overland from a country with yellow fever, you'll need the certificate. However, I was never asked for it.

But yes, the death rate from yellow fever is pretty high from what I understand. I had no side effects from the shot.
