Hi all,

I am new to this site and forum, but not completely new to travel. I for the past 2 weeks, since quiting my cooking job, have been planning my long awaited ATW trip.

So I have come here to ask an important question. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for travel clinics or Travel Doctors in the NYC metro area?

I am currently looking on google for websites, but it seems that NYC is filled with these DR's but, I am reluctant to just choose one.

thanks

s.

hello. I just got my typhoid shot today from my family dr - they have a travel medicine practice as well. If you are looking for basic travel shots (yellow fever, hep a/b, typhoid, etc) they have them, are quite nice and take most insurance plans.

Manhattan Family Practice

In addition, if you need more "exotic" stuff (japanese or european encephalitis), you can try

Traveler's Medical Service, NY
595 Madison Avenue, Suite 1200
New York NY 10022
Corner 57th
+1 (212) 230-1020

(I'll warn you though - their receptionist was QUITE grumpy).

A benefit to the first dr I listed is that they take insurance for the visit, whereas the travel clinic does not and will charge you $75 each time you go.

Hope this helps!

littletarsier, I was excited to see your recommendation of a place that takes insurance for shots, but I just called and they said they don't accept any health insurance for travel vaccines. Frown

I'm beginning to think no one does.. I called the (Westchester) county health board and the lady actually LAUGHED when I asked if she knew of anyplace that accepted insurance!
