Still looking for Carmen Sandiego |
I was at the doctor today for a new patient appointment and decided to bring up the fact that I may be going to East Africa at the end of the year and asked him what he thought I should do about immunizations. He said Hep B takes 3 shots and you need it over a 6 month period but everything I have read online says to see your physician 4-6 wks before your trip to make sure the shots take effect.
Well, my insurance covers all my shots so I went ahead and told him to start me on it. I figure it can't hurt to get it out of the way. SO further down the road I don't have to worry about waiting for vaccinations. Anyone think this was a foolish idea? I really tried thinking of the cons to getting an immunization that I wasn't sure I needed yet but nothing came to mind. ________________________________ When the son of the diposed King of Nigeria emails you DIRECTLY asking for help, you help. Seeing that the shots last years, I don't see any cons against it. I first got my Hep A vaccination in 2003, and it's still up to date

Considering the cons of actually getting Hep A or B, I think you did the right thing. I mean, you can live with almost anything if it comes down to it, but I do enough that's bad for my liver that I don't need any etra help. PLus, even in the developed countries the Immunizations are standard for people who work in medical fields or with high risk groups.
