My travel company has advised the use of a mosquito net and repellants for my trip to Australia.I am travelling between darwin and Perth in may/June 2000.So do Ozzie Mozzies bite much , give you malaria or other nasty diseases or are they just a nuisance.Any info gratefully received

I spent some time in WA and don't remember the mozzies being too bad. The furthest north I got was Carnarvon, banana / papaya country and I don't think they were bad at all.

The worst bites I got were in Sydney where I had an allergic reaction.

If you do get bitten I don't think Australia is a big threat as far as malaria, its more the tropical jungle areas that you have to worry about.
