I've always been a bit fascinated by that colonic irrigation they do where they flush you out, but was never brave enough to try it. Anyone got any war stories about it?

I've also seen an article on a resort in SE Asia where you go and they give you herbs, tablets and cleansing teas for a week and you come out feeling like a new person and 20lbs lighter.

In L.A. I did this three day thing where 5 times a day you drank a glass of:
Apple juice, Volcanic Ash & Psyllium Husk.
Then wash it down with a glass of 1/2 apple juice and 1/2 apple cider vinegar.
I won't go into details, but it really worked...

I did do water therapy once, where all you had for five days was water, soda, water with fresh lime, fresh lime soda. You ate just youghurt and dry toast. I dont know what it did to me, don't remember losting any weight, all i remember is how boring it all was.

Not to get too graphic, but I mean when they stick a tube up your butt and fill you up with warm water, then flush you all out so you're empty :-)

You'd probably know what it did to you if that happened. Hahah. That's why I'm not brave enough to try it.

you could always get them to pour coffee up there.

I went on a detox a while ago. no alcahole really sucked, but it did make me feel better and gave me more energy.

I was listening to a morning radio show a few years back, and the guest was a practitioner of this sort of therapy. They were talking about how people who have diets high in red meat and low in fiber often have an awful lot of...er, "buildup," shall we say, in their digestive system. Anecdotally, he mentioned that after John Wayne died and they were preparing his body for the funeral, they removed (I shit you not...HA! pun intended) 40 lbs. of shit from his intestines.

I've never done this sort of cleansing, but it does sound interesting. Maybe someday when I'm bored...

I had salmonella poisoning once. That was pretty cleansing. And horrible. I lost nine pounds over like 6 days.

Hey BL, have you been watching You Are What You Eat on Sunday nights? Apparently since that program came on, a number of people I work with have either expressed an interest in colonic irrigation (glorified enema) or else have tried it. If you finally get brave and try it, I don't know if I want to know details except for whether or not you felt better afterwards.

No details? What a surprise Smile
I saw that show for the first time last week - pretty disgusting, some if it. But I was kind of interested in it before, from living in L.A. where its quite popular.

Hey Libby - just how exactly do you know that? Smile

I'm pretty clear about the procedure, from a holistic medicine POV, but if there's something you want to get off your chest, well.. I guess we're here for you. LOL!
