I saw Zopa's thread on cutting hair for travel which is an option I can't (ok...won't) take. I'm too attached to my long, blonde curly hair to chop it and my hairdresser at home would kill me.

I'm going to be in the Amazon - very hot and very humid - for 2 weeks. I won't be able to wash my hair very often and it gets tangled and it impossible to brush when dry.

Does anyone have any hair tips that worked for them?

I'm thinking of tying it back most of the time, and bringing a bandana to keep it out of my face. I don't know whether I should bring product since it will take up room, but I don't go a day without it here at home. Is leave it conditioner worth it so that I can actually brush my hair quickly after it is washed?

Thanks!

for hot, humid, developing countries (or areas), i don't even bother with products. plus, you don't even know if electricity will always be availble for you to style your hair. i'd just bring leave-in conditioner at the most, and a hair-tie at the least. oh, i use bumble and bumble defrizz to control the frizz, but only at home.. can't be bothered to maintain my hair abroad! i'm guessing that tying it back into a tight bun (by day and letting it down by night) may be a good option. (that seems to be what ladies did back in the olden days before access to showers etc.)

Braids were how I survived summers back when I had long hair (and it was pretty huge, down-to-the-waist and frizzy).

"It was the most efficient campaign I have seen in my 20 years in politics." -- Sam Burrell, alderman of Chicago's West Side 29th Ward, on the phenomeal Project Vote! voter drive of 1992 which was responsible for adding 150,000 black voters to the Chicago rolls. This helped Bill Clinton and Carol Mosley Braun win Illinois in the '92 elections. The project was spearheaded by an unknown 31-year-old lawyer and community organizer by the name of Barack Obama.

Before I did some extensive travel in Europe a few years back I CHOPPED my hair off. Pixy style. and cried the whole way home from the salon. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

I ended up loving it though. It just took a little time, and it MORE than payed off while I was gone. No hassle, and ended up looking pretty good ( despite my hatred for my ears)

This time, im heading to asia & nz and like you, dont want to chop the hair off. My hair is only like shoulder length, but still.

I am considering getting some extensions & braids put in so I dont have to deal with it for awhile, and would look cooler than my hair does now. I wanted to have it done when I was in Africa , but I didnt want to waste the time to sit and have it done (wasnt there long enough to waste a day on my hair!)

Anyone have any experience with this?
