Hello all,

For all you younger people I am sure this is not a big issue, but its important to remember none the less. Remember to always take copies of your prescriptions on vacation. Its very important in the event that you forget, run out of, or have complications with the medication that you have information accessible.

Is it possible to get most prescriptions filled in countries around the world? I have heard that the names of medications might be different and cause complications. Can anyone share their experiences trying to get prescriptions filled in Central or South America? (expenses, time, etc.)

What I like to do is scan my prescriptions and then email them to myself or save it in my inbox on my online email account (like Yahoo). That way, even if you lose the hardcopy that you brought with you, you can go into any internet cafe and print it out. I also leave a copy with relatives back home and they can fax it to me. This also very important for eyeglass prescriptions. I wear glasses and while my prescription is not necessarily bad (-1.5), my trip would basically be ruined if I lost my glasses. However, I do carry a spare set as well as contacts.

I do this with all my travel documents (passports, visas, etc.).
