OK i was with my doctor last week. He has ordered vaccines for me to go to turkey, but my itinery has changed, i may be going to malyasia too (or instead of turkey). Should i cancel my vaccinations?? And get different ones?

The vaccines i am getting are hep A, hep B, Typoid and rabies. Will these be enough for malyasia?

BTW My vaccines are free on the nhs. In N.ireland.

With all due respect, you are asking us???!!

The only experience any of us have as doctors is when the we "played doctor" as children.

Your personal physician is the one to ask.

ps: don't forget a tentanus booster.
pps: a Typhoid booster? for Turkey?

(Imagine what he would prescribe for travel to England!)

Uh yea i am asking yous!!!!

Yea i was just wondering what you know about vaccinations for that country.

On lonely planet it says rabies and hep a and hep b.

But for the turkey site it says malaria is the only risk, but according to my doctor, malaria tabs are optional!

OMG my head is sore thinking about this, gahhh.

Hey coube, Hep A and B, Typhoid are good for Malaysia (and generally most places).

Depending on where you're going, think about the malaria pills as well.

I know htis is an American site, but it has some info on travel health and vaccinations for the region:
CDC's site for Southeast Asia

Damn, I wish my vac's were free!!!

It depends on where you plan to go in Malaysia.
I've traveled there a few times on business. No vaccines were needed since I was visiting Penang and KL. However, I think getting Hep A and Hep B shots is not a bad idea for anyone traveling to Asia. If you venture out of the big cities in Malaysia, get some malarial protection, as well. But, like the first poster said -- check with your own doctor -- they really do know best!
