Began Gap Year Trip Six Years Ago |
are all the different types of encephalitis vaccines must-gets when travelling in southeast asia? i went to my doctor and told her i was going to thailand/cambodia and all she gave me was hepA shot and nothing else, but everything i've read suggests getting vaccines for not only that, but for japanese encephalitis, anti-malarial med's, etc (im sure you all have read the lists). should i even bother with anti-malarial drugs? i'm going to be around koh samui and pai up north.. probably only a couple days in cambodia for angkor wat.

And another Doctor will tell you to get even more jabs.
I didn't get any of these shots for travel to those places. Most travelers don't either. Your mileage may vary. (and your malaria too!) |

Does you health insurance cover immunizations? Mine did so I got the whole shbang so I wouldn't have to do any of it again for a few years.
I'd say get the Hep B shots too. Hepatitis is the most common contagious disease travellers get. Hep A is food/water born while Hep B is blood and body fluid born. PC Check out my RTW blog: http://blogs.bootsnall.com/claudia |
