I've read through a couple threads on this already, but most of them have to do with weekly/ daily contacts in south east asia. I'm heading to egypt for 5 weeks and considered taking two sets of monthly contacts as well as my glasses. I'm worried about infections and lack of proper sterilization fluid (I was going to bring one bottle with me). I plan on heading into the Sinai region and into the dessert in western egypt.
Any comments? |

My eye doctor recommended using the two weeks ones when I was in Egypt and that's what got me to convert to Acuvue. They are cheap and available almost anywhere should you need to stock up in say, Cairo. The other thing he recommended to do, which I was a bit militant about, is using a hand sanitizer before handling my contacts.
I am nearly blind and glasses don't do the job- I relied 100% on my contacts when I was away, and I didn't even get one eye infection. As for the fluid, bring your own bottle. It'll be cheaper. For some reason contacts themselves are usually really cheap around the world, but the price of saline to put them in is exorbitant. PC |
