Say you had to postpone a trip due to a health concern and you make a claim on your Travel Insurance. How will that effect purchase of Insurance for the trip when it does happen?
Anyone ever done this? |

Trolling for stuff to edit |
There are two MAIN types of insurance people get when they travel: health, and trip. Health insurance covers injuries and sickness overseas. Trip insurance covers cancellation of trip for whatever reason: family death, illness, etc. This is what pays you for unused tickets, tour cancellation, etc.
If you get sick before you go: that is a claim on your trip insurance, NOT health insurance (as trip medical insurance only starts once you leave the country, in most cases). Therefore, your health insurance may not even know about it, unless you are asked specifically if you have ever postponed a trip due to illness, or, more likely, been hospitalized in the past year or two. Check out our insurance section for examples and call 1-866-549-7614 (within the USA) and ask for Dave, our Travel Insurance Expert, if you want more specifics - he's really knowledgable and if he doesn't know the answer to your question, he'll always find out and get back to you.
