Hi- I will be spending 6 weeks traveling in India and China shortly and welcome all advice re anything!
But particularly I would like to hear from anyone who travels with gas permeable hard non-disposable contacts? I'm a bit worried about eye infections- between general dusty and polluted cities to having to keep them clean in maybe less than ideally clean places! I know I can always revert to my glasses but I have particularly bad sight and I benefit from wearing the contacts as much as possible- If I end up not wearing them over the 6 weeks my eyes will almost definitely have deteriorated by the time I get back! which is something I'd like to avoid. any advice anyone? Thanks! |

In India you will def encounter dust and smoke in the cities.
I usually keep eye drops that work with contact lenses handy but mine were for the soft lenses. I would recommend wearing a pair of plain glasses even if you have contacts (will shield from dust)...that way you avoid the dust. Of course sunglasses will help. The other thing I did was to ask my doctor for a presciption for eye infections and used that when needed. But be cautious as you will have to diagnose if you have a viral or bacterial infection. Also, allergy medication help with eye infections or eye irritations. Mine sometimes was allergy related in India as I'm highly allergic to dust.
