My brother and I are planning for a RTW trip including NZ, Australia, SE Asia, China and India. We depart on 12/28. Does that leave us enough time to get all of our vaccines. What's up with the hepatitis b vaccine? Do I really need it six months before departure?

Best to talk to your physician about these, and depends on which vaccines you get.

For Hep A, I got a 2 series dose -- first one, then second one 1? months later (can't remember).

For Hep B, I got a 3 series dose -- first one, then second one 1 month later, and I'm due for the 3rd 6 months after the first.

I don't know about the effectiveness rate for only taking partial doses.

Hep A is two shots, 6 months apart. I got my first one in August, and plan on getting the second one in Oz somewhere.

If you are getting Jap B, they are three shots, the second one is a week after the first, and the third is a month after the first.

Two of the shots, I think MMR booster and Meningitis, I couldn't get at the same time. I had to space them out.
