I'm looking into various travel medical plans, in preparation for a year-long trip. I'm a little confused about the emergency evacuation benefit.

If I have to be evacuated to the US, does the medical plan cover my medical expenses for that injury/illness while I'm being treated in the US? Or would I just be flown home and dumped in front of the emergency room at the county hospital?

Anyone with any knowledge or experience of this?

Best bet is to inquire specifically with the company that you are checking out..probably varies by policy...

Maybe(depending on the country)get a Kidnapping coverage rider with your insurance, and make it an umbrella policy.
