howdy,

we will be traveling for about 9 months, mostly in the US, and 2 months overseas. therefore we need insurance covering us both home and abroad. based on our research we can't find a policy that covers both. short term health insurance doesn't cover the overseas portion and travel insurance doesn't cover the US portion. are we missing something? do we just have to buy 2 separate policies? insight or advice from others is greatly appreciated!

thanks,
stacy

Instead of of a combo,,,how about a rider/add on??? May cost more, but it may be worth it!!
Like adding a rider clause for possible kidnapping.

thanks for the reply- through further research i have been told repeatedly that we will need to have 2 plans, one that covers us in the states and one that covers us overseas.

so to that end, i guess i would like to hear from people about their experiences with various travel insurance companies. given the plethora of options, i'm not sure how to pick one. so if people are willing to share either good or bad stories about filing claims, getting reimbursed, actually getting injuries or illnesses covered, etc. i would greatly appreciate it!

also it seems from what i've read that your travel insurance plan will cover medical expenses you gather in the states recovering from or treating whatever happened to you overseas? have people experienced such an event, and is this accurate?

thanks again,
stacy
