Holds PhD in Packing
Posted
I'm working on securing a teaching job overseas which will require a physical. Due to the fact that the great ole, Us and A has no universal healthcare i am unfortunately uninsured (sorry had to rant about that.) With that being said I was curious if anyone was in a similar situation. Was it possible to get around this or did you have to suck it up and pay for a physical?

Normally when an employer requires a pre-employment physical, the employer also pays for it. Usually reimbursement after the records are submitted.

Save all your receipts and bills and turn them in to the employer for reimbursment.

If the potential employer expects you to get the physical on your own dime, beware an array of other pennypinching practices down the road.

Just found out I don't need one...good thing. I just have to fill out a medical form which is a self evaluation. Thank You Premier Bush!

I had to get a physical for a job in Oman (which as it worked out I ended up bailing out on for various reasons). It was at my expense ($150 or so) and though I'd already been hired, the result could have theoretically disqualified me.

I also had to get a physical to get my residence permit in Turkey, but that was paid for by the school I was working at and done after I'd already been working there for a while.
