Ounce of prevention=Pound of Cure (gram of prevention=kilogram of cure)
Todays tip comes from the dental assistant I saw this morning. FLOSS EVERY DAY!
I didnt always, and I have proof of those days all over my mouth. In recent years I always do, and my checkups go very well. The assisstant today said "you would be amazed at how much $$ people would save if they only flossed every day." We all already knew that(right?), but I wanted to post a reminder so we could all be healthier, and we could all spend more $$ travelling instead of paying the dentist.

I was pretty sure this post was going to be about stopping smoking. I read it out of some weird masochistic urge to beat myself into submission. I always promised myself I was going to stop when I tured 30 so thats, eh, three weeks ago.

Yes- my dentist tells me the same thing. And beyond saving money, flossing can reduce your chances of having a heart attack and many other problems. One of many articles I found says:

"Preventing periodontal disease or reducing its extent or severity may also reduce the risk of coronary artery disease," Caton says. "Improved oral hygiene and frequent dental cleanings are both associated with periodontal health. Periodontal health is associated with a lower incidence of coronary artery disease and stroke." yea for flossing and great hygenists. i agree that it saves money. another thing to think about is that floss is not prevalent or as cheap in other countries. i had that problem in mexico finding floss and then it was 6 or 7 american dollars. so that might be something worth picking up before you go somewhere.

I found some in a bin at a bent and dent grocery once that was in a very compact case--it was the size of a credit card. I just went and hunted one up, and it's called "Dentax". Might be worth looking into.
