I find it strange BnA would publish/promote stories by members who have been banned from the boards.

This was okay.

People are not required to be members or part of the boards to submit material to the site (and vice-versa)

Was he banned? You gotta unban him. He had so many nasty things to say Arabs and Islam that I loved reading his posts on the Middle East forum. He's my favorite troll.

Anyway, the story was really good, an impressive contrast of two very different cultures.

The story was disturbing - on many levels. His writing style was both provocative and evocative. Do people really speak to strangers with such potty mouths? - seriously. In any case, I was deeply drawn into the narrative. I wanted to get the hell away from Yusup, but I think, given the chance, I'd want to get the hell away from the writer as well.

I agree -- good story. The ending is a bit flat in my opinion, though. A bit forced and predictable. Then again, this isn't the kind of story that succeeds or fails based on a punchy ending. The dialogue hooks you early and keeps you interested.

I gotta admit, though, when they went into the room with two beds, I thought the teacher was going to try and pull something on him. Especially after the "you like girl?" comment. Knowing Barukh, that kind of confused effect might have been intended ...
