Yes, and how much of this so-called travel with the locals is a sham done through English? The only locals most anglophones have access to are the English speaking ones. If you haven't taken the trouble to learn the local languages you've missed 90% of the country and you don't even know it.

I see your point. I do not learn languages easily, in fact, it takes me so long, one lifetime is not enough. But I won't let that stop me from travelling, and at least trying to connect with the locals.
