I liked your article. I was going to walk to San Pedro from Santiago de Atitlan, but decided to take the ferry instead. I later talked to the restaurant manager/owner at Bambu, my hotel and he said that there were some bandits between the two towns, but that they were "friendly" bandits. i told him that we tourists didn't want to hear about any bandits, friendly or not, but inquired what he meant. he gave some examples. A car is stopped and the couple are robbed of all of their cash. The man says that he needs some money for gas. The bandit give him back a $20.00 The man says he needs $40, they negotiate about the matter and the bandit gives him back $30.00 charlie bright |
