Robert Kaplan's book "Balkan Ghosts," which is about this area, is one of my favorite all time books about this area.

I was there few times. You mantioned all most famous cities in regia that are on usual traveler route. You should visit some towns in central Bosnia, very ancient like Travnik... also Cetinje at Montenegro... central part of Serbia like Uzice, Cacak, Zlatibor are real perls but not known to travelers at least I met only few enthuziasts.
