Why does the WTC attack have it's own branch? What's it got to do with travel?

I think the 'attacks' have their own thread because they were major events that effected world politics and travel.

The US invaded Afghanistan and replaced its government and now has a agenda of other places to invade including Iraq. This could with the situation in Isreal polarize western-Arab relations and possibly kick off a whole back and forth scenario, just like in Isreal.

For travelers the level of security at airports has increased together with stricter requirements for some visitors to the US. Luggage on aircraft has also been affected. Right after 9/11 there was a big drop in overseas travel, meaning some companies went out of business, it also meant there were deals to be had for the adventurous.

Travelers to the Middle East are now more aware how they might be caught up in events in the future. If Al Queda decides it want to kidnap or kill a bus load of Americans it won't be that hard.

I think that because the events of 9/11 made us examine why people would do this kind of thing, we are more aware of the affect our political, ecomomic and military presence has around the world. Not everyone likes us and what we're doing, its up to us how we handle this.

I find it sad that everyone is hesitant now to travel. Note how many airlines have gone under since the attacks...Ansett, Swiss Air (are they back in operation?), and wasn't there a US airline like Midway that collapsed financially? And even now, US Airways and United throwing in Chapter 11.

We should not be sitting at home feeling sorry for the world, we should be out in it.
