Just got the notice that the Daily Dose is being discontinued? Has the declining American economy come down to this? Every morning I'd wake up and anticipate the Daily Dose and wonder where in the world the BootBoyz would send me next.

Aww... Frown

Well, I guess you do what you gotta do...

Hmm - it is really not about the declining economy more than that is the only e-mail newsletter that has a declining number of subscribers.

I also think:

1) People are getting more overwhelmed with Email - the Daily Dose just adds to it

2) RSS Readers. Folks can get RSS feeds so that the stories and what they want comes into and RSS reader vs. clogging up the email.

I'm glad to hear you like it Erik...any suggestions on modifiying it for the better?

Well, I liked it the way it was; I opted for the simple text e-mail version; no need to clog me up with an HTML-based one. I like it's simple one sentence dek to introduce the article. Sort of a "Good Morning, Erik, today, for ten minutes, you will be transported here as you drink your coffee." It's become a daily ritual for me.

I never told you this: I don't know if it was a conscious decision after the big Boot Meeting in Thailand, but I did notice a higher quality in the writing once DD came back on line. I was quite impressed with that.

Anyway, you probably know better than I do 'cuz you have all the stats on subscribers and readers, but I always liked the DDs to introduce the new articles. To me, the blog audience and the article audience are two different audiences (I expect different things when reading one or the other), and the DD does for the article audience does what the RSS feed does for the blog audience. (I thought it was weird then blog entries were in the DD.)

Of course, if its not worth the time, it's not. Oh well. Life goes on...

P.S. I have several "community building" ideas for a site redesign, for when we get to that bridge. First things first though... Wink
