Hey guys,

all of a sudden today there are all these obnoxious pop-up ads for phones and casinos and domain names...um, what's up with that? Is that an open topic thing?

and how do I make the little buggers go away for good? they are bugging the shit out of me.

I was just going to make the same complaint. They are really annoying!!!

Fair enough with the one that used to pop up, but what's with a new ad for every post you read!!

Cheers,
Kath

I hate them too. I don't know about you but I never click on them. THey are unfortuanately neccessary to make a little money to keep the site running. For users like me I try to ingore them and don't let them spoil all the great content that BootsnAll has.

Kudos on the need to make $$, I understand that, good on ya. But just reading your post alone slammed me with three pop ups. (oh, four now) I heard somewhere that there is a way to get rid of them on your own personal computer. Any ideas?

Oh, and nothing can deter any of us from the cool content on the boards. Even stupid ads.

this is about to annoy the fuck out of me....seriously......I KNOW about money and power and how it can corrupt. Trust me. But, you guys have gone a little head over heels on the ad thing. I just wrote on that silly WEBBY'S thing that there was very little bullshit on this site and that when there was- I pointed it out. Well, I'm pointing it out. Who is the culprit behind this? They should be cut off from all alcoholic beverages for a period of NO LESS THAN 6 weeks.

Have to agree about the pop-ups. There's nothing wrong with a little bit of advertising...but this is some seriously aggressive (read: ANNOYING) rapid-fire advertising. It's a bit much. Any way you can at least turn it down a little? Like Delara, I've had four pop-ups in the last minute and a half. Sheesh.

I dunno Brandon, 6 weeks seems like an awful long time sans alcohol. Don't you think that's a bit harsh?

Just wanted to let everyone now that with these new pop-ups, pop-unders, and pop-overs, we traded in the BootBus for a BootLexus - we are currently sitting on the beach in the Bahamas (just drove the BootLexus down from LA) - updating the site and watching the money roll in off these bad boys.

Of course I am kidding - our provider chucked 'em in there on accident - they should be off soon. Sorry about them...I hate them as well.

Peace,
Sean

I'm expecting a check for some articles that I just wrote....and I was considering taking an overland bus tour all the way there for $100....if I thought that I could immediately get a job, then I certainly would....for good or ill.

South Beach is driving me to the brink of insanity. I won't go into the reasons here.....some of the PC crowd might get offended.

I don't know.....I might go to the casino boat and try to spin up a quick $1000, then, I don't think that I would stick around here much longer.

You can fix this problem by ditching Internet Explorer and going with Firebird (www.mozillia.org) its a MUCH better browser...I dont understand how a person could use IE...it sucks!

kYLE'S right. One of the reasons we use Opera and it's nO 1 Browser in SEA. One of the probs with Internet Explorer is the spamming and pop-ups. What's worse, is they're all US deals. Well i know US may be one of the biggest individual users but there's 3.7 billion others out here who have little or no interest in "US only" deals.
Mozilla is now working fine for me but still, not Opera.
Here in Malaysia, Linux is growing so fast.
I'll be glad to see the pop-ups reduce and hopefully, "reply" functions working off other browsers.

Have campervan, will travel.
