So it has something to do with the submission process from Safari on Mac.
Or meddling moderators...
I did not tag this thread the way it is currently tagged. Whatever. I'll just live with the inability to tag....I have nothing of value to add to these forums anyway. If there is some crazy moment when I start a thread and would like to have tags added to it, I'll just pester one of the mods.
After all, that's what it says in your primer....and at least I still have the ability to modify the title of a thread....

Umm, you're not going to be too happy when we start requiring tags on all new posts.
I don't think that would be a good idea. Well, for me, at least, since most of the time I wouldn't have any clue what to tag my topic (and I assume you mean new discussions/threads, rather than all posts).
Please note: the above member, who is the very model of a modern major-general, with information vegetable, animal, and mineral, has retired from BnA and won't be able to answer any follow-up questions. If you really need to speak with him, use the PM function. Please direct all Schengen visa questions here. Likewise, expat questions go here. Remember to vote tiger penis. Oh, and if possible, be kind to Jester and Stoo.

If we make tags required, which I would eventually like to do, my hope is that they'd also come with a few suggestions - or a list of tags that already exist to choose from, or something like that. Mika and I will talk about that. Because if people don't know what to put for tags and therefore don't use the tag feature at all, it means there are potentially great threads that aren't going to be captured with tags and perhaps not be found by people searching the tag list. If tags are really used (properly) by everyone, it'll be much easier to find all the threads about, say, the Eiffel Tower. Or whatever.
I don't think that will work for us. Better to let the users pick a tag of their choosing rather than having to pick one from a list (which will never be maintained properly and/or may frustrate users).
Periodically, it may be necessary to go in and correct the spelling of tags and/or eliminate hurtful or goofy ones.

Yeah, I just checked with Mika and making a list for people to choose from is actually quite a programming undertaking. So, the likelihood is that tags will be required and you'll all have to come up with your own tags. But really, it's not that bad...
The main thing is to think about what your post is about. Are you asking for opinions on your Italy itinerary? Tag the post with the word "italy." Are you wondering what hiking boots are best for your three-month trek through Africa? Tag the post with "hiking boots" and "africa." Yes, it's fairly subjective, as whoever writes the post gets to decide what the post is 'about,' but for the most part it should be pretty straightforward.
And NTFT, I've used both initial-caps and all lowercase letters before, and I've not seen a difference, so I'm not sure that's the issue.
