Is there a specific place to post general reviews/points of interest/places to eat? I notice people asking for advise on hostels, places to eat, tour guides. I was just thinking that on my travels if I come across some place cool I would just go ahead and post it. This way when some does a search for tour guide in city xyz they would get my post. In case they ask the question and I don't see it to reply or it has been 6 months and I have forgotten the name of xyz.

Since this is not really much of a discussion or question type post (unless people reply with agreement or disagreement on my review of xyz), I wasn't sure where to put it.

Good question Jared.

1) Write a story/General Review on BootsnAll.

2) Start a thread on the appropriate forum with a title of like: "General Info and Review of XXXXXLocation" - and share your thoughts.

3) Maybe we could use insiders for this... Smile - Goto Insiders and post your Question in the form of information like above: "General Info and Review of XXXXXLocation" and then go answer it with your thoughts. Other folks can add theres as well and it will have very nice search and usability (make sure you nest it properly so it comes up under the specific local.

Whaddya think?

Great thoughts mate.

I think, also, adding it to an active thread on that location.

I always do searches when I am researching a trip, and tend to first check out the thread with the most responses; and then often revive it.

That may help to keep things a little more consolidated and the threads freash.

There are quite a few threads which have started out as reviews, just like what you're proposing. That kind of thread is very helpful to people, giving them some basic knowledge and allowing them to tailor their questions. I don't think you should hesitate to either add to an existing thread or start your own in the region specific forum.

So Sean, Insiders is for both general info and specific questions? Other than chit chatty stuff what should we NOT put on Insiders?

And another way to spread the word about places you might want to review or recommend is by contributing to the BootsnAll logues. We have these destination-specific and theme guides for different areas and just yesterday I posted an open call for submissions to the ones that are online, and more destinations will be coming soon.

The information is in the Travel Writing section, and you can see the specific post here.

Sean,

I just found Insiders and it looks like it might be a good place to put it reviews. If a member where to perform a search on the travel forums does it also pull results from the Insiders threads? Would this be a possiblity coding wise? Also rawjer mentions the Travel Writing section would it be even possible to tie in the search results to that section as well?

Thanks for the replies! I have used this site enough to plan my RTW trip, I just would like to be able to give back to others while I am on the road.

My two cents - I think the boards are much better suited to general reviews like you're suggesting, Jared. But if you've got enough inside-information to advise people on a location, then by all means sign up to be an Insider and reply to their questions, too!
