If a user has there post 'moderated', bet it deleted, modified, or moved then an explanation should go to the user—automated, dropdown box ‘reason a’ or ‘reason b’, or best yet a full textual explanation from the moderator would be nice.

Helping users understand the bounds with active feedback would be a good thing. Having posts magically disappear is sorta Orwellian.

Every time we move a topic (because it was posted in the wrong section) we open a new topic to let you know where can you find it.

You will see something like: *Moved* "blah, blah, blah, topic " and a link that redirects you to it.

We hardly delete and /or modify posts and we are in touch by PM with the originals posters to let them know about our decissions.
Anyways, if any member has a particular question can send a PM to moderators

Stuinzuri,

Do you believe one of your posts was moderated? Is there anything that prompted this comment that you want to talk about.

yea, but no big deal. I'm a big kid and will get over it Wink i just thought that if it were to happen then a courtesy mail should be sent. again, no big deal. (i was being a bit cheeky.)

that said, i've stopped posting and even reading the chit chat forums. i got sucked in because of katrina, but realized that it's a really angry, emotional place.

has it always been so? it also seems like the chit chat forum gets 80% of posts...do you have stats on that kind of stuff? would be interesting to see...

i'm sticking to travel only topics from now on. Big Grin

Never going back?! So cynical for a chap who's just joined the ranks, Stu (welcome, fellow newbie!) Smile ChitChat will continue to suck you in though, be warned...travelers like to talk to travelers, even when it's not about travel.

I'd be interested to see how many posts get some sort of moderation, if one is compiling statistics on the forums.

It's not always that angry in there. The hurricane seems to have sparked some rather heated conversations. If you avoid topics about the hurricane, President Bush, guns, religion, and why the United States rocks/sucks, then you should be okay.

If we can figure out a way to automate it, I agree, that would be helpful. Perhaps in a newer version of the software.

Sor Raimunda, I confess...

After a week of steering clear of the chit chat forums i broke down, read some threads and even posted there. BUT! I did manage to stay away from anything nasty like suggested above: politics, bush, sex chat, etc. :P

Bloody addictive, this stuff is...
